Avatar & Sentosa Island

Everyone has always seen the amazing photos of the Gardens by The Bay and it was high up on my list of things to do whilst in Singapore. I was so excited to see what they were like in real life. We decided to visit them in the daytime first to really get a feel of the gardens!

They are truly amazing!! The gardens mixed in with the huge avatar like trees literally looks like something from a film! They had so much to offer for both children and adults all with the huge hotel Marine Bay Sands stood proudly behind.

It was such a hot day and with lots of walking around we had to keep stopping for shade and water! The area to walk around is quite vast but it was so beautiful. After spending a couple of hours there we decided to head back to the hotel and come back at night time to get a view of the trees all lit up.

We were so glad we came back at night!! We accidentally came across a free light & water show at the hotel as we watched the sunset over the skyline! It was free too which was a bonus! They used water fountains and projected pictures on the water! The skyline was absolutely amazing. We had such a good view and watching this city turn from daytime to nighttime was unreal.

Once the show had finished we walked back to the gardens and it was one of the best sights ever!! It really did look and feel like we were in the film Avatar. The trees all lit up were just beautiful. You could walk around the top of the trees too, but we were too late to buy a ticket. 5 minutes after we got there all the lights on the trees switched off. I genuinely thought something had gone wrong with the lights, only for another light show with music to start directly onto the trees. One of my highlights!

On our last day in Singapore we decided to get a short monorail journey out to Sentosa Island. I had seen that they had these ‘man made’ beaches there so we packed our beach bags and the sun was shining! I did not expect the views that we got when we arrived there! It was truly a beautiful little spot, which was totally unexpected in a this busy city.

It almost felt like we weren’t in Singapore anymore! It was so incredibly hot,and it gave me the perfect little afternoon of sunbathing after exploring for the last few days. The water was so warm and the views to die for.

Sentosa Island had a few stops on the monorail, they also had a huge Merlion there which was bigger than the original one! They do have a theme park there however we decided to keep it cheap (Singapore can be quite expensive!!) and stayed by the beach (and the bar).

Sentosa is an absolute must if you are travelling to Singapore, and if you are willing to spend a little extra cash then they even have a Universal Studios there!! It’s so easy to get too using the monorail too! GO!!
